Notice of Effective Date for New Rules of the
Tennessee Home Inspector Licensing Program

Pursuant to Tenn. Code Ann. § 4-3-1306(d), you are receiving this notice because you have elected to receive notification by e-mail of certain changes or potential changes to the law applicable to your profession.

The Tennessee Home Inspector Licensing Program (“Program”) approved the proposed rules at the rulemaking hearing conducted on September 4, 2025. The rules were filed with the Secretary of State on October 24, 2025, and will become effective January 22, 2026. The rules have been filed as rulemaking hearing rules and will be promulgated ninety (90) days from the filing date.

The proposed rules amend certain renewal, education reporting, and home inspection report requirements resulting from the Department’s review as required by the General Assembly’s enactment of Tenn. Code Ann. § 4-5-213. Most of the rule amendments are clerical and do not impose any additional licensure standards. Specifically, the rule amendments simplify the fee schedule for renewal fee processing, remove certain required completion notifications for instructors for qualifying and continuing education courses, and clarify a portion of the home inspection reporting requirements.
