Notice of Public Rulemaking Hearing: Tennessee Court Reporting Program
Pursuant to Tenn. Code Ann. § 4-3-1306(d), you are receiving this notice because you have elected to receive notification by e-mail of certain changes or potential changes to the law applicable to your profession.
The Tennessee Court Reporting Program (herein “Program”) will be conducting a Rulemaking Hearing on Thursday, October 30, 2025 at 9:30 a.m. This rulemaking hearing will be held at the following address:
500 James Robertson Parkway Davy Crockett Tower, Conference Room 1-A Nashville, TN 37243
The proposed rules are in response to the Department’s retrospective rule review and statutory changes made with the passage of Public Chapter 524 “Less is More Act of 2025” signed into law on May 21, 2025, by Governor Bill Lee which became effective on July 1, 2025. Specifically, Public Chapter 524 terminated the Tennessee Board of Court Reporting and assigned the powers and duties previously held by the Board to the Commissioner of the Department of Commerce and Insurance. The proposed rules remove all references to the Board and replace them with the Commissioner. The proposed rules also update the regulations of the Court Reporting Program to reflect current practices of the court reporting industry.
A copy of the rules to be considered at the rulemaking hearing can be viewed online at:
