Notice of Effective Date of Change in Law

Pursuant to Tenn. Code Ann. § 4-3-1306(d), you are receiving this notice because you have elected to receive notification by e-mail of certain changes or potential changes to the law applicable to your profession.
Pursuant to recent legislation, Tennessee Code Annotated § 62-6-109(f) was amended by deleting that subsection, which required the Board to meet in each grand division at least one (1) time a year. The Board will no longer be required to meet in each grand division of the state once a year. This change in law will become effective on July 1, 2025. For more information concerning the subject legislation that was passed and signed into law, you can review Public Chapter No. 524 here. The change is made in Section 46.
Additionally, pursuant to recent legislation, the law now prohibits all boards from establishing or operating under race-based policies pertaining to their composition, including policies on affirmative action, racial preferences, or racial quotas. The law also prohibits all boards from using a person’s race, color, ethnicity, or national origin to determine the person’s participation as a member of the board.
