Notice of Rulemaking Hearing for New Rules of the Tennessee Motor Vehicle Commission
Pursuant to Tenn. Code Ann. § 4-3-1306(d), you are receiving this notice because you have elected to receive notification by e-mail of certain changes or potential changes to the law applicable to your profession.
The Tennessee Motor Vehicle Commission is conducting a rulemaking hearing on, Monday, March 17, 2025, at 10:30 a.m. CT. This rulemaking hearing will be held at the following address:
500 James Robertson Parkway Davy Crockett Tower, Conference Room 1-A Nashville, Tennessee 37243
Most importantly, these rules raise the fees for the motor vehicle commission. Licensure fees for the Motor Vehicle Commission have not been increased in more than 14 years. To comply with the statutory requirement that each Board or Commission be self-sufficient, it is necessary that the Commission entertain a fee increase. Additionally, the rules correct outdated statute citations, remove requirements related to sending certified mail, and delegate authority to the Chair to review reconsiderations of final orders following a protest. Pursuant to the Tennessee Open Meetings Act (Tenn. Code Ann. § 8-44-101, et seq.), the above-referenced hearing is open to the public, and you may attend the hearing in person. If you have any comments regarding the rules, you may either submit your written comments in advance of the rulemaking hearing to Sierra A. Shepard, Assistant Counsel, at (615) 253-1960 or electronically at Sierra.Shepard@tn.gov, or appear at the rulemaking hearing to make your comments on the record.
