To: Fire Education and Prevention Fire Comm From: TN SFMO Date: March 31, 2016 Subject: "Get Alarmed, Tennessee!"
The State Fire Marshal’s Office would like to thank each and every partner involved in the “Get Alarmed,TN!” program since its inception in 2012. Because of your department’s participation and ownership in “Get Alarmed,” we have been able to record 129 lives saved and over 80,000 alarms installed in residences throughout Tennessee.
As the program continues to grow, we are constantly looking for ways to make it more efficient and effective. In light of this, all administrative processes for “Get Alarmed” will be temporarily shut down for one month. Starting May 1, 2016, we will not be delivering alarms, supplying alarms, or coordinating smoke alarm canvasses. We encourage your department to continue installing alarms during this time and continue to send us installation reports. We will return to coordinating the Get Alarmed program, including delivering alarms and coordinating canvasses, on June 1, 2016.
This temporary shut-down will be used for re-tooling the program to best suit the needs of Tennesseans and fire departments alike. This will include an updated training program, a reorganization of the delivery and accountability process, and integrating more efficient methods for the program to run.
Prior to June 1st, we will send out a notification letting you know of any changes that might affect you and your department. We sincerely appreciate your partnership in making Tennessee a safer place to live. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact Baylie Scott (Baylie.Scott@TN.gov) or Alex Daugherty (Alex.Daugherty@TN.gov). |
