Notice of Public Rulemaking Hearing:
Tennessee Athletic Commission

Pursuant to Tenn. Code Ann. § 4-3-1306(d), you are receiving this notice because you have elected to receive notification by e-mail of certain changes or potential changes to the law applicable to your profession.

The Tennessee Athletic Commission (hereinafter “Commission”) will be conducting a Rulemaking Hearing on Monday, June 10, 2024, at 2:00 p.m. This rulemaking hearing will be held at the following address:

500 James Robertson Parkway
Davy Crockett Tower, Conference Room 1-B
Nashville, TN 37243

The proposed rules would allow for the Commission to regulate bare-knuckle boxing bouts in the State of Tennessee, consistent with the unified rules approved by the Association of Boxing Commissions (ABC). The Commission currently regulates professional boxing, however, the current rules do not allow for bare-knuckle bouts. These rules would create the regulations specific for the regulation of bare-knuckle boxing while also using current boxing regulations for fees, applications, and licensure to govern when not in conflict with these new rules.

Additionally, these rules amend the regulations related to professional boxing and mixed martial arts to allow for more consistency with the unified rules adopted by the ABC. Specially, these rules align the mixed martial arts weight classes with the ABC unified weight classes, changes timelines in months to days for greater consistency in regulation, and removes the standing eight count from kickboxing.
