Notice of Effective Date for New Rules for Tennessee Board of Examiners for Land Surveyors
Pursuant to Tenn. Code Ann. § 4-3-1306(d), you are receiving this notice because you have elected to receive notification by e-mail of certain changes or potential changes to the law applicable to your profession.
The Tennessee Board of Examiners for Land Surveyors considered new rules at a regularly scheduled meeting conducted on January 26, 2017. These rules were filed with the Secretary of State on July 27, 2017 and became effective on October 25, 2017.
The proposed rules clarify the responsibilities of third party vendors performing examinations on behalf of the Board, clarify that the National Council of Examiners for Engineering and Surveying (“NCEES”) conducts the national examination while the Board of Examiners for Land Surveyors, through third party vendors, will conduct the state specific examinations and Professional Land Surveyor in Training examinations, clarify that the syllabus that is published by the Board of Examiners for Land Surveyors is for the state specific examination, that applicants should contact NCEES for a syllabus of the national exam, and restructures the fees section for better readability and to make it clear that examination fees are to be paid directly to the organization or company performing the examination. No fee is raised or lowered. A full copy of these rules can be viewed online at http://publications.tnsosfiles.com/rules_filings/07-37-17.pdf
