Proposed Rule Notify

Pursuant to T.C.A. § 4-3-1306(d), you are receiving this notice because you have elected to receive notification by e-mail of certain changes or potential changes to the law applicable to your profession.

On March 8, 2018, the Commissioner’s Designee of the Soil Scientists Program considered a rule change affecting examination requirements for licensure. This proposed rule amendment was filed with the Secretary of State as Proposed Rules on September 27, 2018. This amendment will become effective December 26, 2018, unless, within ninety (90) days after the proposed rule was filed with the Secretary of State, a petition for a public hearing on the proposed rule is filed by ten (10) persons who will be affected by the rule, an association of ten (10) or more members, a municipality, or by a majority vote of any standing committee of the general assembly.

These changes would amend the Tennessee Soil Scientists Rules and Regulations as follows:

Tenn. Comp. R. & Regs. 0780-05-06-.04 is amended to remove the requirement for licensure of passing the professional practice soil science examination, which is no longer required by the Soil Scientist Society of America.

Tenn. Comp. R. & Regs. 0780-05-06-.07 is amended to reduce the initial license and renewal fee for an active license from $400 to $300.

Tenn. Comp. R. & Regs. 0780-05-06-.05 is amended to clarify continuing education requirements for license renewal and how they are submitted.

A copy of the rule filing is available for review on the website of the Secretary of State at:
