2015 Board of Architectural and Engineering Examiners

Legislative Update

The Tennessee General Assembly has recently made changes to statutes which may impact you as a holder of a license with the Board of Architectural and Engineering Examiners. These new changes set out in the following Public Chapters specifically amend the Tennessee Code Annotated as follows:

Public Chapter No. 291 (SB0081/HB0071), amends Title 62, Chapter 2, to authorize the Board to deny certain certificates of registration to persons with felony convictions and to remove certain board notifications to governmental entities when revoking or suspending certificates of registration. The bill also amends certain obsolete provisions regarding the Board administering engineering examinations directly. This law became effective on April 24, 2015. Public Chapter No. 403 (SB0978/HB0823), amends Tennessee Code Annotated § 62-2-107 to increase the threshold for public works projects that require a registered architect, engineer, or landscape architect from $25,000 to $50,000.
