Proposed Rules
Pursuant to T.C.A. § 4-3-1306(d), you are receiving this notice because you have elected to receive notification by e-mail of certain changes or potential changes to the law applicable to your profession.
On December 5, 2016, the Tennessee Athletic Commission (“Commission”) approved rule amendments affecting mixed martial arts (“MMA”) licensees. These changes would amend the Tennessee Rules and Regulations as follows:
Tenn. Comp. R. & Regs. § 0145-03-.04 would be amended to adopt the Association of Boxing Commissions’ Unified Rules of MMA.
Tenn. Comp. R. & Regs. § 0145-03-.10 would be amended to adopt the Association of Boxing Commissions’ MMA Judging Criteria and Scoring Guidelines.
Tenn. Comp. R. & Regs. § 0145-03-.15 would be amended to require MMA gloves have padding over the knuckles.

This rule is currently pending with the Secretary of State and will become effective June 15, 2017 unless, within ninety (90) days after the proposed rule was filed with the Secretary of State, a petition for a public hearing on the proposed rule is filed by ten (10) persons who will be affected by the rule, an association of ten (10) or more members, a municipality or by a majority vote of any standing committee of the general assembly. If the Commission receives such a petition, it will not proceed with the proposed rulemaking until it has given notice and held a hearing as provided in Tenn. Code Ann. § 4-5-202.
