Notice of Public Rulemaking Hearing:
Tennessee Board of Court Reporting

Pursuant to Tenn. Code Ann. § 4-3-1306(d), you are receiving this notice because you have elected to receive notification by e-mail of certain changes or potential changes to the law applicable to your profession.


The Tennessee Board of Court Reporting (herein, Board) approved and voted on proposed rules at a rulemaking hearing conducted on September 25, 2020. These rules were filed with the Secretary of State on March 26, 2021 and will become effective on June 24, 2021. The rules have been filed as Rulemaking Hearing Rules and will be promulgated ninety (90) days from the filing date.


The proposed rules amend the standards of professional conduct. Specifically, the proposed change replaces the word “shorthand” with the word “un-transcribed” to the description of paper and electronic notes required to be preserved by licensees as part of their standards of professional conduct.
