Notice of Public Rulemaking Hearing:
Tennessee Board of Court Reporting

Pursuant to Tenn. Code Ann. § 4-3-1306(d), you are receiving this notice because you have elected to receive notification by e-mail of certain changes or potential changes to the law applicable to your profession.


The Tennessee Board of Court Reporting (herein, Board) Rulemaking Hearing on Thursday, April 30, 2020 at 2:00 p.m., to be held at the following address:

These rules amend all references to the Administrative Office of the Courts to the Board of Court Reporting, change the method of payment for receipt of records, change late fees associated with license renewal, delete the grandfathering licensure regulations. A new rule is created allowing for the issuance of temporary licensure pending examination and setting that three (3) additional temporary licenses may be issued for good cause. The rules also limit the late renewal period to six (6) months, introduce a new rule for allowing certain military applicants or spouses to receive expedited licensure, amend the standards of professional conduct, and amend the investigatory process to reflect the authority of the Tennessee Department of Commerce and Insurance and introduce a twenty (20) day response requirement. Finally, the rules amend provisions regarding the disciplinary actions by the Board and remove certain continuing education requirements.
