It is time for the quarterly newsletter from TFACA. We hope you enjoy this addition.

It's the time of the year when weekend fire training events are in full swing. We hope you will take advantage of the events this weekend at East TN Fire Rescue Symposium or Upper Cumberland Weekend. November 1st & 2nd is the TN River Weekend. Registration information and courses can be found on the TFACA website.

Fire Prevention week is underway with “Working Smoke Alarms Save Lives: Test Yours Every Month!” as the national slogan for 2014! As you know, in the last 2 years our State Fire Marshal’s office has distributed more than 30,000 smoke alarms to departments to assist with helping reduce fire deaths in our state. Additionally, following research information from residential burns in South Carolina and other locations we learned by simply closing the door in a home where a fire is present can provide additional safety for occupants. So TN State Fire Marshal also began a "Close the Door" campaign. This campaign provides valuable information to help reduce the loss of life by fire and could also help reduce property damage.

We also received information during the annual conference of the North American Fire Training Directors (NAFTD) concerning propane cylinder issues being seen around the country. Many are related to the “food truck industry”. A webinar will be conducted Thursday October 9th with more information. The link below will provide more information.

Thank you for your support for training and for TFACA!
