| TFACA has several training opportunities which may be of interest. Additional infomratino can be found on our TFACA website.
1. TN/VA Weekend at NFA registrations continues to be low. Deadline to register is August 15th. Please get your registration in!
2. Electrical Certification Prep classes are being conducted in August. If you are preparing to test for certification or are interested in becoming a certified electrical inspector in either residential or commercial, these classes are designed for you. Classed will be held in Jackson, Knoxville and at the TFACA campus.
3. Fire Chief Orientation class in will be held at Jackson Fire Training Center on August 9th & 10th. If you are a new chief needing this class to meet the state requirements, or an officer preparing for a promotion, this is an excellent class to attend. You will receive instruction on many subject areas including legal requirements, mutual aid, and resources available to assist you with daily operations, Firefighter certification, using ACADIS online technology to register students for certification testing as well as attending TFACA classes and new information concerning modern fire attach in residential structures. This class will only be offer one more time in 2014 at TFACA in November.
4. If you have Public Safety Telecommunicators needing training to meet the state required training, we will be offering the Public Safety Telecommunicators class will begin Sept. 9th. New communications employees or seasoned employees needing to refresh protocol will benefit for this class.
5. Fall Recruit Class begins Sept. 8th and will graduate on Nov. 14. Only a few slots still available for this class. Need to get registered ASAP to ensure a spot.
6. Weekend training events begin in Oct. Check these events out on our website. Events will be conducted in Middle, East and West TN so pick a area and receive great training, information and see new products by the venders.
7. Planning you in-service for 2015 to meet the new Commission submission deadline of Dec 2014. TFACA can help as we have several new classes designed to meet your in-service scheduling. Contact Director Jeff Elliott or your regional coordinator to learn more about this new program. Then join the growing list of departments using TFACA for in-service training.
8. ISO changes allow use of a training facility by departments to count toward training credit. We can assist you in getting this credit by scheduling your department to use the TFACA campus as your drill site. Let us help improve for training score by hosting or conducting your training. Thanks to those that attended the 1st Annual Training Chiefs/Officers Symposium! The feedback has been great and the request for this to be an annual event is being planned. If you missed this year’s event, plan to join us next year. Dates and more information will be available later this fall.
