NOTIFICATION OF STATUTORY CHANGES
Pursuant to T.C.A. § 4-3-1306(d), you are receiving this notice because you have elected to receive notification by e-mail of certain changes or potential changes to the law applicable to your profession. As such, the Department would notify you of the following Public Chapter that was passed during this legislative session and its effective date:
Bill Number: SB141/ HB473 Public Chapter: PC369 - https://publications.tnsosfiles.com/acts/109/pub/pc0369.pdf Synopsis: This Act requires all private probation officers employed by entities providing private probation services to supply fingerprint samples and submit to a criminal background checks and pay the costs associated with same. This Act also reduces the number of hours required for continuing education from twenty hours to eight hours of annual continuing education. This Act also establishes a late fee equal to 25% of the registration fee. Effective Date: May 10, 2019

Synopsis: This Act requires that private probation services providers maintain documentation on all misdemeanor defendants sentenced to be supervised by the entity which shall be subject to audit by the comptroller of the treasury, court or courts in which the entity operates or by their designee. Said records shall be maintained for three years from the date of final payment or audit.
Effective Date: April 17, 2019
