Notice of Rulemaking Hearing for New Rules of the Tennessee Scrap Metal Dealer Registration Program
Pursuant to Tenn. Code Ann. § 4-3-1306(d), you are receiving this notice because you have elected to receive notification by e-mail of certain changes or potential changes to the law applicable to your profession.
The Tennessee Scrap Metal Dealer Registration Program is conducting a rulemaking hearing on Monday, September 29, 2025, at 1:00 p.m. CDT. This rulemaking hearing will be held at the following address:
500 James Robertson Parkway Davy Crockett Tower, Conference Room 1-B Nashville, Tennessee 37243
The proposed rules amend a mailing registration requirement and certain changes to the registration expiration process resulting from the Department’s review as required by the General Assembly’s enactment of Tenn. Code Ann. § 4-5-213. Most of the rule amendments are clerical and do not impose any additional registration standards. Specifically, the rule amendments remove the requirement for withdrawn registrations to return their certificate of registration to the Program, and permit registrants to pay a penalty fee of Twenty-Five Dollars ($25.00) per month for late renewals up to six (6) months beyond the renewal date, instead of requiring an immediate new application A full copy of these rules can be viewed online at:
