Greetings from the Fire Commission, I hope you enjoyed the Thanksgiving Holiday season with family and friends and that you were blessed with safety in your travels. As we near the end of 2015 for those in our Educational Incentive Pay program we want to ensure you have the resources needed to submit your 2015 forms. As a result we have provided a presentation on our website at http://www.tn.gov/fire/commFireFighting.shtml the presentation titled “How to Submit Forms in Acadis” will explain which forms need to be mailed in and which forms need to be submitted in Acadis. In addition, the required forms are available for download as well and include the following:

Next, we want to thank everyone for working with us in submitting their 2016 In-Service through Acadis. These submitted programs were presented to the Commission at its meeting November 18th at TFACA. In addition, we want to thank everyone that participated in the peer –review process.

Our Next Commission meeting (Work Session) will be 2/17/2016 at 1PM Embassy Suites 1200 Conference Center Blvd Murfreesboro, TN, followed by the Business Meeting 2/18/2016 9AM. In addition, meeting dates have been set for April 26th and 27th in Gatlinburg at the Park Vista.

Also as a reminder, all Fire Officer Levels of certification will move to the 2014 edition of NFPA 1021 effective January 1, 2016. The practical for all levels will be completed as a project assigned by a commission coordinator and submitted for grading. In addition, the candidate must complete a course for each level which has been approved by the commission which meets the general prerequisite skills and objectives of the relevant chapter of NFPA 1021, 2014 Edition. Transition Period Anyone who has completed a practical or written exam and received a PASSING grade under the 2009 Edition of NFPA 1021 will have until June 30th of 2016 to successfully PASS the remaining required exam (Written or Practical). After June 30th, 2016 applicants will be required to meet the Commission’s requirements listed above for the 2014 Edition of NFPA 1021. Also, the Commission set an effective date of July 1, 2016 to require approved course work for all Instructor level certification.
