Dear Fire Service Professionals:

I want to remind you that your department’s 2017 Educational Incentive Pay in-service training program must be submitted to the commission office before November 1, 2016. It is hard to believe that it is only a little over six weeks away. We plan to complete the “Peer Review” events in November and we have set a target to have all the plans approved before January 1, 2017. We will be utilizing Acadis Web-Form to do the submission as we did last training year.

A few key points to remember about your training program before you submit it:

Programs must be a minimum of 40-hours. Each Instructor must have their TN Commission Instructor number listed. Hazardous Materials instructors must have their TN Commission Instructor number (if available) as well as a brief biography submitted. If multiple hazardous materials instructors will be utilized, submit their name and their TN Commission Instructor number and after the list of instructors a summary biography that will be true for each instructor. If TFACA or other approved agency/organization is teaching a class for your department, in the test and test key sections of the web-form enter, “Proprietary Course and Test; Test Scores Will Be Kept on File at the Department” Classes like American Heart CPR and Vanessa K. Free classes instructed from a stock curriculum, the test and test key sections of the web-form enter, “Proprietary Course and Test; Test Scores Will Be Kept on File at the Department”.If you develop and teach your own class, remember each class must be a minimum of 2-hours. Each class must have a minimum of 10 multiple choice questions or 1 question per hour whichever is greatest as a test instrument.Multiple Choice questions must not have answer choices like “All of the Above”, “True/ False”, matching, “Both A and C”, and etc. Classes that are taught on more than 1-day, must administer multiple versions of the exam. Please only submit 1 version with your program/exam for approval. You can utilize up to 20-hours of online training. For those of you that utilize on-line training; if the class is advertised as less than 2-hours, add a hands-on and/or instructor-led component to the class description to get the class up to the minimum two hour limit. Then in the class hours enter the number of hours that the class is planned for. This is a change from last training year.
