Notice of Public Rulemaking Hearing for the
Tennessee Board of Funeral Directors and Embalmers
Pursuant to Tenn. Code Ann. § 4-3-1306(d), you are receiving this notice because you have elected to receive notification by e-mail of certain changes or potential changes to the law applicable to your profession.


The Tennessee Board of Funeral Directors and Embalmers (“Board”) will be conducting a Rulemaking Hearing on October 9, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. This rulemaking hearing will be held at the following address:


500 James Robertson Parkway
Davy Crockett Tower, Room #1-B
Nashville, TN 37243

These rules clarify the examination and grading procedures, adjust the fees for a number of licensees, require a submission fee for specialty forms to be reviewed, establish parameters on re-registering for apprenticeships, establish ninety (90) day time limits for completing various applications for registration and/or licensure, specify indicators regarding fixed places of business devoted to the care and preparation of dead human bodies, specify new requirements related to the care and preparation of non-human remains, clarify the new in-person and/or virtual continuing education requirement, and add the option of obtaining continuing education credit by attending a regularly scheduled board meeting.

Pursuant to the Tennessee Open Meetings Act (T.C.A. § 8-44-101, et seq.), the above-referenced hearing is open to the public, and you may attend the hearing in person.
