Notice of Public Rulemaking Hearing for the
Tennessee Real Estate Appraiser Commission

Pursuant to Tenn. Code Ann. § 4-3-1306(d), you are receiving this notice because you have elected to receive notification by e-mail of certain changes or potential changes to the law applicable to your profession.

The Tennessee Real Estate Appraiser Commission will be conducting a Rulemaking Hearing on October 16, 2018 at 9:00 a.m. This rulemaking hearing will be held at the following address:

500 James Robertson Parkway
Davy Crockett Tower, Room #1-B
Nashville, TN 37243

These rules allow applicants to complete up to one half (1/2) of their of their pre-licensure qualifying education hours via internet or distance education.

Additionally, the rules affect continuing education (CE) in the following ways:

(1) Currently licensed and certified appraisers are allowed to take up to one-half (1/2) of their CE online because the current rule does not use the word classroom. The Commission has proposed to add language to the rule in order to clarify that licensed and certified appraisers may complete one-half (1/2) of the CE online or by distance education.

(2) Allows registered trainees to complete up to one half (1/2) of their required CE online or by distance education.

These rules require a supervisory appraiser take a four (4) hour course prior to supervising a trainee appraiser.

Pursuant to the Tennessee Open Meetings Act (T.C.A. § 8-44-101, et seq.), the above-referenced hearing is open to the public, and you may attend the hearing in person.
