Notice of New Rules Effective 2-15-2015 

Pursuant to Tenn. Code Ann. § 4-3-1306(d), you are receiving this notice because you have elected to receive notification by e-mail of certain changes or potential changes to the law applicable to your profession.

The Board of Examiners for Land Surveyors conducted two Rulemaking Hearings on October 24, 2013. The following serves to notify you of the following rules that were adopted by the Board of Examiners for Land Surveyors. The following rules will be effective February 15, 2015.

These rules make several amendments to the Land Surveyor rules found at Chapter 0820-04 relative to the Rules of Professional Conduct. The amendments make changes to rules regarding proper conduct of practice, service in areas of competence, public statements, conflicts of interests, misconduct, seals, and responsible charge of service. Further, a new rule was added requiring corporations, partnerships, or firms providing land surveying services to the public to disclose the principals and officers of such firm, as well as those who are in responsible charge of the firm. Additionally, rules were filed making several amendments to the Land Surveyor rules found at Chapter 0820-05 relative to Continuing Education. These rules include adding several definitions and making changes regarding basic requirements, the conversion table, types of acceptable continuing education, inactive or retired registrants, license reinstatement, noncompliance, hardships and exemptions, reports and records, , including amending rules regarding definitions, types of acceptable continuing education, inactive registrants, reinstatement to active registration, noncompliance, hardships, and reports and records, approval of programs, and comity.
