The Tennessee Board of Examiners for Land Surveyors (hereinafter “Board”) will be conducting a Rulemaking Hearing on Thursday, November 20, 2025, at 9:00 A.M, CST/CDT. This rulemaking hearing will be held at the following address:
500 James Robertson Parkway Davy Crockett Tower, Conference Room 1-B Nashville, TN 37243
The Department of Commerce and Insurance (“Department”), Tennessee Board of Examiners for Land Surveyors (“Board”) intends to propose rule amendments in response to the Department’s retrospective rule review conducted in 2023. The rule amendments remove the requirement that only an officer or principal of a firm can be in responsible charge of the firm’s practice and provide that any registrant that is a full-time employee of the firm can be in responsible charge of the firm’s practice. The registrant is allowed to be in responsible charge of more than one firm, and these rule amendments remove the requirement that the two or more firms be in the same physical location Additionally, the rule amendments increase the number of professional development hours given for certain peer-reviewed publications, streamline the requirements of sponsors that offer continued education programs, and clarify the requirements for reinstatement of a license. Lastly, the rule amendments remove certain provisions contained within the rule that are unnecessary and redundant due to already existing statutory authority.
