Notice of Effective Date of New Rule for Tennessee Board of Licensing Contractors

The Tennessee Board of Licensing Contractors considered new rules at a regularly scheduled meeting conducted on September 30, 2016. These rules were filed with the Secretary of State on July 18, 2017, and will become effective on October 16, 2017. These rules have been filed as Proposed Rules and will be promulgated without a hearing ninety (90) days from the filing date unless a petition is received by at least ten (10) persons who will be affected by the rule, or submitted by a municipality which will be affected by the amendments, or an association of ten (10) or more members, or any standing committee of the General Assembly.

The proposed rules are regarding Go Build, created by the Tennessee General Assembly in 2015. The rules set out requirements regarding contract procurement, board creation, grant approvals, success and failure reporting, financial disclosure, and communication with the Tennessee Board for Licensing Contractors by the Go Build Corporation. A full copy of these rules can be viewed online at http://publications.tnsosfiles.com/rules_filings/07-27-17.pdf.

If you have any questions or concerns about these proposed rules, please contact Ashley Thomas, Assistant General Counsel, at (615) 741-3072 or electronically at Ashley.Thomas@tn.gov.
