Notice of Effective Date for New Rules of the
Tennessee Athletic Commission
Pursuant to Tenn. Code Ann. § 4-3-1306(d), you are receiving this notice because you have elected to receive notification by e-mail of certain changes or potential changes to the law applicable to your profession.
The Tennessee Athletic Commission approved the proposed rules at the rulemaking hearing conducted on June 13, 2022. The rules were filed with the Secretary of State on July 13, 2023, and will become effective October 11, 2023. The rules have been filed as Rulemaking Hearing Rules and will be promulgated ninety (90) days from the filing date.
These rules make certain amendments to the rules governing boxing and mixed martial arts to remove ambiguity, unify the Tennessee regulations with the Association of Boxing Commissions and Combative Sports (ABC) Unified Rules of Boxing and Mixed Martial Arts, and further protect the welfare and safety of licensees. The changes improve consistency with the ABC rules which allows for out-of-state contestants to more easily compete in Tennessee. In addition, some of these amendments were required due to statutory changes in the law.
