Fire Commission Updates , Training & Certification 03/19/2015

Greetings form the Fire Commission, we know you are ready for spring, just wanted to share a few things.

1. We have our next commission meeting on April 29th in Gatlinburg

Work Session

– 9:00 am - Eastern Time

Business Meeting

– 1:00 pm - Eastern Time

All Meetings will be held at Gatlinburg, TN located at The Park Vista, 705

2. Smoky Mountain Weekend, (Pigeon Forge) we will be offering a class on Saturday, May 2nd from 1:30 to 5:30 on Commission Rules and Acadis, visit http://www.smokymtnweekend.com/index.html for more information and to register for the event.

In addition, we will be hosting a Written Exam at the Sevierville Fire Department at 122 Prince St from 6pm till 9pm, you must have your applications and perquisites in 2 weeks prior to the event.

3. Every third Tuesday at 9:00am, the commission will be hosting a written exam at TFACA, again you must have your applications and perquisites in 2 weeks prior to the event.

4. 2014 Educational Incentive has been completed and sent to Fiscal. Those city and county departments that submitted and qualified should be receiving payment if you have not already, via direct deposit or by check within the next several weeks. This year’s totals where 5,881 firefighters from 96 departments, totaling $3,528,600. Thanks for your timely submissions in getting this accomplished.

5. Coordinator Cross will be sending out the 2015 Approved In-services Programs to their departments over the next several days. Again thanks for your submissions and patience in getting these programs through the process. On that same note, this year’s rules require your 2016 In Service Programs to be submitted by November 1st of 2015.

In closing, we have filled the coordinator’s position and will be introducing him once we have him on board. Again thanks for your service to your community and stay safe out there and remember “Everyone Goes Home”.
