ELECTRICAL INSPECTOR CERTIFICATION TRAINING

The State Fire Marshal’s Office (SFMO) is seeking the service of state certified electrical inspectors across the state of Tennessee. If you would like to become a certified electrical inspector, the SFMO is providing training to help you accomplish this goal. For those who are primarily interested in obtaining their electrical inspector certification for the purpose of securing a contract with the SFMO, we will be offering FREE classes through the TN Fire Service & Codes Enforcement Academy (TFACA). Additionally, individuals seeking to obtain their electrical inspector certification for other interests are invited to attend as well at no cost.*

This unique opportunity will be provided at the following times and locations:
1. Oct. 3 - 7, 2016 TN Fire & Codes Academy, 2161 Unionville/Deason Rd. Bell Buckle
2. Oct. 10-14, 2016 Jackson Fire Training Center, 720 S. Highland Ave. Jackson
3. Oct. 17-21, 2016 Pigeon Forge City Complex, 225 Pine Mountain Rd. Pigeon Forge

The courses will cover requisite knowledge for the 1&2 Family Dwelling Electrical Inspector Certification and the General (commercial) Electrical Certification exams which are both required in order to obtain a contract with the SFMO as an electrical inspector. Each 1 Week session will be taught by Tom Dorsey Sr., an established name in the electrical training field throughout TN. Upon completion of the course, certification must be obtained by passing the appropriate exam(s) through the International Code Council or the International Association of Electrical Inspectors. Although tuition is FREE,* participants will be responsible for all other costs, such as overnight accommodations, travel expenses, any fees associated with certification exams, etc. Also, in order to secure as many seats for those seeking electrical certification, no recertification hours will be granted toward Building, Fire, Mechanical, and Plumbing certifications.

We are very excited to offer this opportunity! If you are interested in working with the SFMO as a state certified electrical inspector, please contact Gary Farley at (615) 741-7170 or Gary.farley@tn.gov.
